At No. 16 on our Overwatch League 2021 power rankings are the Houston Outlaws.
Houston spotted plenty of young talent from Overwatch Contenders and even Collegiate Overwatch. To help young players adjust to the Overwatch League, the Houston Outlaws can also count on seasoned players from the League.
Houston Outlaws 2021 roster preview
Tank:
Myung-heum “JJANGGU” Cho Min-jun “PIGGY” Shin
Myung-heum “JJANGGU” Cho is the new main tank for the Houston Outlaws. He is joining the Overwatch League for the first time, previously playing in Contenders with various teams such as GC Busan WAVE or Talon Esports.
The Houston Outlaws 2021 tank duo already know each other, as both players were part of Talon Esports. Min-jun “PIGGY” Shin mainly plays non-tank heroes, such as Zarya and D.Va. With Talon Esports, Myung-heum “JJANGGU” Cho and Min-jun “PIGGY” Shin won the Overwatch Contenders 2020 Season 1: Pacific.

William “Crimzo” Hernandez Enrique “Joobi” Triana
William “Crimzo” Hernandez made his name in the Overwatch Contenders, winning the 2019 North America West season tournament with Team Envy, the Dallas Fuel academy team. He was then promoted to the main squad, joining Dallas Fuel for the 2020 Overwatch League season. Crimzo is now starting a new adventure with the Houston Outlaws.
Enrique “Joobi” Triana is a young player, who just turned 18 on April 4th. Joobi is the first player to jump straight from an Overwatch Collegiate team to the Overwatch League, even though he’s previously played in Contenders NA. He played with various teams in Contenders, before joining HU Storm, the University of Harrisburg esports team. Houston Outlaws scouts have noticed the player, who is now joining the Overwatch League.

DPS:
Dante “Danteh” Cruz João Pedro “Hydration” Goes Telles Jung-woo “Happy” Lee Kyle “KSF” Frandanisa Jacob “JAKE” Lyon
Dante “Danteh” Cruz and João Pedro “Hydration” Goes These are the only Houston Outlaws 2020 roster to stay with the squad in 2021. Both are flexible players, playing as DPS for the squad but able to change if necessary. For this new season, the duo are joined by three other DPS players.
Jung-woo “Happy” Lee is a former Element Mystic and Meta Bellum player, who made his debut in the League in 2018 with the Guangzhou Charge. He stayed with the team for two years, winning the Summer Showdown and finishing the Overwatch League 2020 season in 5th place.

Kyle “KSF” Frandanisa is also a seasoned Overwatch League player. He played two years with the Los Angeles Valiant, placing second in the inaugural Overwatch League season, third in 2019, 2nd and 5th in 2020. KSF is also the Overwatch World Cup champion, winning the title with Team USA in 2019.
Jacob “JAKE” Lyon signs his return as an Overwatch League player. After two seasons at Houston Outlaws, he retired from the Overwatch competition to join the analysts office. While he might not be in the top six since the Houston Outlaws have a total of 5 DPS players, his insight could benefit the team, just like an additional analyst or coach would.

2021 Houston Outlaws Power Rankings
The Houston Outlaws are home to many seasoned Overwatch League players this season. While the squad has many good individual talents, competing in the Overwatch League gets tougher every year and that may not be enough to beat a stronger squad.
One of the biggest dangers for the Houston Outlaws this season is the inexperience of some of the team’s key players. The tank duo are making their debut in the Overwatch League, while primary support has just come from Collegiate Overwatch.
The Houston Outlaws DPS line is full, although Jacob “JAKE” Lyon will be more likely to coach the team than join the starting six. If DPS players can compete with other talented players, the Houston Outlaws may need some time to find their rhythm in the Overwatch League.
