Libreville, Thursday November 2, 2023 (Infos Gabon) – The cargo is located at the former storage site of the Getman company where Colonel Maurice Ntossui Allogo, Minister of Water and Forests visited a few days ago.
The visit carried out by the Minister of Water and Forests in charge of the Preservation of the Environment, Climate and Human-Wildlife Conflict to the former storage site of the Getman company in Owendo revealed the presence of ten abandoned containers loaded with kevazingo. “We very quickly alerted the judicial services, in particular the General Directorate of Counter-Interference and Military Security. A certain number of woods, apparently undeclared, are found on this site. We believe it is abandoned wood. If this is confirmed, this wood will have to be sold. An investigation will be carried out by the competent authorities in order to shed light on these facts,” launched Colonel Maurice Ntossui Allogo.
When the kevazingo scandal broke out in 2019, the disappearance of 353 containers containing this precious wood, which was banned from cutting in Gabon, was reported. Around ten people were then arrested and several personalities fired from their positions. Eighteen containers loaded with kevazingo were found in China.
