Just when the production of Wedding Crashers 2 was about to start, it has stopped again thanks to Owen Wilson.
The 52-year-old actor has signed up for a reboot of The Haunted Mansion making co-star Vince Vaughn have to wait longer to invade marriages together again.
Wedding Crashers 2 (with a deal that would see both Wilson and Vaughn earn $10 million) was due to start next month and the final script was underway when Wilson signed with the rival studio that also plans to start filming next month.
Gloomy prospects for the fans
A sequel to the 2005 smash hit has been in development for several years, and the entire cast had to return in a new story updated for today’s #metoo era.
It is speculated that Wilson chose The Haunted Mansion to maintain its relationship with Disney after the success of the series Loki.
He is also making a second season of that first and before that he expressed his enthusiasm about joining the MCU where he would like to stay longer, so Wedding Crashers 2 seems to be taking a while.
