ÖVP-affiliated Student Union Secures Majority in Federal Student Council Elections

The ÖVP-affiliated student union will also provide the federal school spokesperson in 2023/24. In the student council elections, the organization secured a clear majority with 27 of the 29 seats in the Federal Student Council (BSV). The BSV then elects its spokesperson in September. The current federal school spokeswoman, Flora Schmudermayer, also comes from the student union.

Congratulations came on Friday from the Federal Chairwoman of the Young ÖVP and Secretary of State for Youth Claudia Plakolm. “I warmly congratulate the student union on their great electoral success, in which they have once again proven that constructive representation work is better received by the students throughout Austria than the attempt to make social policy in school classes,” said Plakolm in a broadcast . With more than 30,000 members, the student union is the largest interest group for school students in Austria. The ÖVP-affiliated organization has provided all federal school speakers since 2005.
