It looks like Blizzard will lean towards creature cuteness more than ever, as a new special challenge has been revealed from Overwatch centered on the pet. Like previous challenge events in Overwatch, players have approximately two weeks to complete all of the objectives required to unlock PachiMarchi content.
In other challenge events, which are usually tied to a specific character like Hanzo, Mercy, or Symmetra, players are tasked with getting 9 wins in any game mode. With 3 wins, a spray or profile icon is unlocked, and the same goes for 6 wins. With 9 wins, players typically unlock a special challenge-bound skin.
Blizzard announced the challenge PachiMarchi Through a brief preview on the official Overwatch Twitter account, confirming that the event will launch on March 9 and will run until March 22. The text of the Tweet indicates that there could be a special fight tied to the challenge. The video shows an absurd amount of stuffed animals from Pachimari falling from the sky too, something that adds to this idea.
While it’s unclear what the point of this fight might be, it’s likely tied to the abundant plushies in some way. Stuffed animals are seen falling on the Hanamura map, implying that this location will appear in the event in some way.
With Hanamura featuring machines in one of the spawns showing the onion-like creature’s stuffed animals, it makes sense for the map to appear somehow. Unfortunately, players have no idea what to expect from the event, aside from its start date and a host of Pachimari-themed goodies.
Still, given past events, fans can expect some special cosmetic items to be unlocked in the coming weeks, all of which will likely be related to Pachimari.
With several profile icons of the creatures in existing seasonal outfits, fans can look forward to a couple more of these. Additionally, players should also anticipate some special items tied to the heroes of Overwatch. For example, a character can get a Pachimari t-shirt, with the appropriate outfit from someone like D.Va.
In addition, emoticons in which the characters interact with Pachimari, such as Roadhog’s “Secret Friend”, may also be available. Victory poses showing characters holding one of the stuffed animals are also possible, although this is pure speculation.
However, with little officially confirmed through the event announcement, fans will just have to wait and see what tomorrow’s PachiMarchi launch day brings. While not getting new heroes from Overwatch Even the sequel can be disappointing for some fans, surprise events like these should keep players active for at least a little bit longer.
