A Blizzard This week released a video detailing the changes it intends to make in Bastion for the return of the robot in Overwatch 2. The differences are not so drastic that they can change the character’s class, but they are expressive enough for those who play with him to reevaluate their tactics.
For starters, Bastion will no longer have the ability to heal. In return, players gain a new ability to change the character’s shot type to an explosive orb. This orb bounces off walls and can also stick to players just before it explodes, dealing area damage.
Bastion’s “tower” mode has also undergone an important change: the ability to move. In Overwatch 2 it will be possible to walk around in this second form of Bastion, but it walks slower.
Finally, Bastion’s ultimate also changed. The character no longer becomes a tank, but a mortar launcher. The player then has a limited time in an aerial view to choose three areas of the scene, where the bombs dropped by Bastion will fall.
Changes were also made to the hero’s appearance. The idea, according to the developers, is to deliver a cleaner look, with “modern” materials. Complementing the costume, we also have a little cap, “to help you stand out, and give that extra touch of personality,” according to Arnold Tsang, art director of the characters in Overwatch 2.
