OVERVIEW. These are all corona measures in the Netherlands in a row

Measures and urgent advice

• The following applies to everyone: Stay at home as much as possible. Still out the door? Limit your contacts.

• Keep 1.5 meters away everywhere.

• Do not receive more than 4 people from the age of 13 per day at home. Visit no more than once a day. No exception for Christmas and New Years.

• If you visit others or receive visitors, do a self-test. Even if you have no complaints.

• A mask obligation (from 13 years) applies in and around public transport and when you walk around school or in public indoor spaces such as shops, museums and the catering industry.

•Essential shops such as supermarkets and drug stores are open until 8 pm.

• Specific services such as the notary or lawyer, mortgage advisor and medical contact professions have normal opening hours.

•The work from home advice is ‘Work at home’. Can’t do that: always keep 1,5 meters away at work.

• People aged 70 and over are advised to limit their contacts as much as possible, including with children, and keep 1.5 meters away from them.

Hospitality, events and sports

• A corona ticket is mandatory for everyone aged 13 and over in the hospitality industry, theaters and concert halls, museums, indoor sports locations and cinemas. Mandatory seats and 1,5 meters away also apply here.

• Most locations and events have a closing time between 5:00 PM and 5:00 AM.

• Amateur sports (matches and training) are not allowed between 5:00 PM and 5:00 AM. Top athletes (training and playing matches) and professional practice of art and culture are allowed after 5 pm. Without an audience.

• At transfer locations, a maximum of 1 visitor per 5m2 meter applies.

• A maximum group size of 75 people at a distance of 1.5 meters in higher education and of 1250 in a theater or concert hall.

Financial support

For entrepreneurs, companies, self-employed persons, cultural institutions and sports organizations affected by these measures, the cabinet will extend the support package until the first quarter of 2022. The cabinet is allocating 4.4 billion euros for this.

Support for the events sector will be extended until the third quarter. This support applies if an event is banned by the central government during this period. However, the deductible for the organizers increases.

primary education

Primary schools and schools for special (primary) education will close the week before the Christmas holidays. The BSO is also closed this week. Schools will remain open for emergency care for vulnerable children and children of parents with a crucial profession. Schools are not required to provide distance learning until the Christmas holidays.

Booster campaign accelerated for all adults

Due to the omicron variant, every person over 18 will be offered a booster in the second half of January at the latest. A booster can help increase protection against this variant and prevent its spread. Until now, vaccination has been done from old to young and we will continue to do so. The booster is given after 3 months instead of after 6 months after the last vaccination or previous corona infection. A total of 8.5 million adults will then be offered a booster. Before the end of the year, almost all people over 60 will receive an invitation for a booster.
