Overnight stays in Hesse exceed the pre-crisis level: day ticket

As of August 2022, 1.5 million guests and over 3.4 million overnight stays for accommodation facilities in Hesse were determined. Compared to the pre-crisis level of August 2019, this was almost 4% more guests and a good 1% more nights. The results exceeded the previous highs of June 2018 and August 2019. Compared to August 2021, the number of guests increased by 60% and the number of overnight stays by 35%.

In August 2022, Hessian accommodation facilities welcomed as many as 1.5 million guests. They consumed more than 3.4 million overnight stays. This was almost 4% more guests and a good 1% more overnight stays compared to August 2019. Compared to August 2021, the number of guests increased by 60% and the number of overnight stays by 35%.

Number of guests and overnight stays in the neighborhoods

The number of guests increased in all administrative districts of Hesse compared to August 2021, especially in the district Main-Taunus (+ 147%), Offenbach am Main (+ 138%) and Frankfurt am Main (+ 122%). The smallest increases were recorded in the Waldeck-Frankenberg district (up 4%), in the Lahn-Dill district (up 9%) and in the Rheingau-Taunus district (up 15%).

The strongest growth in the number of overnight stays was recorded by the Offenbach am Main companies (+ 125%), followed by the Main-Taunus district (+ 104%) and Frankfurt am Main (+ 99%). The smallest increases or decreases compared to August 2021 were recorded in the Waldeck-Frankenberg district (minus 5%), in the Odenwald district (plus 3%) and in the Schwalm-Eder district (plus 6%).
