Alistair Overeem won his UFC fight against American Walt Harris in the night from Saturday to Sunday. The duel between the heavyweights was the main battle of the third event of the MMA association this week.
The UFC was the first major sport to return to the United States during the corona pandemic last weekend, and an event was also held on Thursday night. On all three evenings in Florida, there was no public welcome and strict precautions were taken.
Overeem had to take a big hit in the first round from Harris, who fought for the first time since his stepdaughter was kidnapped and murdered in November. The Dutchman, who celebrates his fortieth birthday on Sunday, suffered a bleeding head wound.
In the second round, Overeem took the game to himself. With a hard and high kick he made Harris stagger, after which Overeem finished with a series of punches.

Overeem wins in four decades
Due to his victory over technical knockout, Overeem has now won MMA fights in four different decades (90s, 00s, 10s and 20s). Only the Ukrainian Aleksei Oleinik did that to him.
“I hope to go for the world title again and would like to end my career in a nice way,” said Overeem after the fight. “Now that I’m forty, I’m officially in the last phase of my career.”
“I want to enjoy as much as possible in that last phase. Today I did that. Fighting in an empty stadium was a whole new experience and that gave me a lot of energy.”
In 2016, Overeem lost a title fight to Stipe Miocic, who still leads the heavyweight ranking. The Amsterdammer occupies eighth place in the rankings.
Throughout his career, Overeem stands at 46 wins in 65 MMA fights. In the UFC, he won eleven times in eighteen appearances.
