Mr. Poilievre says he is still studying how compulsory treatment would work for adults.
Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre says he supports mandatory and involuntary medication and psychiatric treatment for children and prisoners who are deemed incapable of making decisions for themselves.
He said earlier this summer that he was open to the idea, but needed to study the issue more closely.
His new stance on the issue comes after the parents of a 13-year-old British Columbia girl testified before a parliamentary committee about her mental health issues before her overdose death at a homeless encampment in Abbotsford, British Columbia.
They said their daughter was released from the hospital despite their repeated attempts to keep her in treatment.
