PESCARA – The Public Prosecutor’s Office of Pescara is investigating the overcrowding of the hospital’s emergency room and sending warnings to the ASL leaders. The Center reports this, specifying that the suspects, with charges to be proven, are the manager True Michitellihis predecessor, Vincenzo Ciamponi, the former health directorAngelo Caponettinow retired, the hospital manager Valerio Fortunato and the current health director Rossano Di Luzio.
The crimes charged are omission of official duties, interruption of public service and abandonment of incapable people. Everything, therefore, refers to the long waits in the emergency room with people abandoned for hours on stretchers. The investigation follows a series of protests and complaints from patients about the situation in the hospital with inevitable controversy.
The Prosecutor’s Office has drawn up a detailed indictment, also taking into account the many critical issues reported over time by the head of the emergency room, Doctor Tiziana Ferrara. According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the suspects, each in their own role, maintained “complete inertia”, “refused to carry out the dutiful acts of their office, to be adopted without delay for reasons of public health”. As part of the investigations, individual cases were identified of patients left waiting on stretchers for days before being admitted to the relevant department; waits that reached nine days.
