True love does not look at physical appearance is the right sentence to describe the story of Norfatin Syahwanies Yatiman and her husband, Saiful Safrin Sumali. Regardless of the criticism around her, this 26 year old woman faithfully accompanies her husband in his fight against obesity.
The woman who is familiarly called Fatin said she first met her husband in 2018. At that time, her future husband was shy and lacked self-confidence.
“When I first met my husband, he was a shy person, not confident in public. I also tried to change my husband’s perception about this,” he said, quoted from Mstar, Friday (8/9/2023).
To improve her husband’s self-confidence, Fatin started sharing videos on TikTok. She hopes that in this way her husband will realize that there are people who want to accept him as he is.
“That’s why I shared his story on TikTok, to make him enthusiastic and aware that there are people who accept him as he is. Many netizens also gave positive words and advice to my husband,” he said.
As a result, the husband managed to lose weight from the original 230 kg to 180 kg. However, in April 2022, Fatin’s husband had a motorbike accident which again caused his weight to increase.
“In April 2022, my husband had an accident. He had a motorbike accident and broke his hand. From there, his weight suddenly increased, even reaching 300 kg,” she explained.
“He started to become conscious and found it difficult to carry out daily activities. It was difficult for him to walk, he felt uncomfortable sitting and got tired quickly. Finally I helped him diet, such as maintaining his diet, taking him to light exercise and taking walks in the park,”
“Thank God, now my husband’s weight has dropped to 280 kg,” he continued.
Fatin admitted that the struggle to accompany her husband in losing weight was not free from challenges. One of them is ridicule from friends and the surrounding community.
“When I first got married, my friends asked me why I wanted a fat man. But it didn’t matter, I saw my husband’s heart, he sincerely loves me, that’s the most important thing,” she said.
