SAMARINDA.NIAGA.ASIA – The Head of North Samarinda Sub-district, Syamsul Alam together with dozens of volunteers from various organizations under the coordination of PWI Kaltim Peduli unitedly took to the field to attack the area of Sempaja Timur Village, North Samarinda District by carrying out fogging, today, Sunday (23/1/2022) following reports of residents in a number of neighborhood units being positive for dengue fever (dengue fever) due to being bitten by the Aedes aegypti mosquito.

Abdurahman (28), a resident of RT 53, Sempaja Timur Village, said that in his neighborhood there were already two children who were positive for DHF until they were hospitalized.

“The characteristic of being bitten by a dengue-transmitting mosquito is that the bite marks are black with white stripes all over the body,” said Rahman.

The first attack using a fogging device with the Swingfog brand made in Germany on a loan from the Samarinda City Health Office was carried out in the East Sempaja Village under the command of the North Samarinda Head, Syamsu Alam.

Fogging followed several places, especially around the houses of residents who had detected dengue fever, including in the neighborhoods of RT 53, 26,28, 40, 41, 06, 50 and 39, Sunday morning, January 23, 2022.

The sub-district head of North Samarinda, Syamsu Alam said that the attack on dengue fever in the area he led was purely initiated by several volunteers in the city of Samarinda.

“I understand, they really care about the health of their brothers and sisters, those who try to find tools by borrowing from various parties, they also work together to provide equipment for spraying such as diesel fuel, mosquito repellent liquid. We are assisted by the Karya Insani Foundation for this mosquito repellent liquid,” explained Syamsu Alam when met by this media on the sidelines of this social service action.

According to Syamsu Alam, volunteers actually move to lure other parties to move, lest there are fatalities that are declared as outbreaks.

“Relevant parties should be moved by volunteers to intervene. Why did the volunteers intervene because there were cases reported but did not get a response. Hopefully in the future if there is a case of DHF, the RT must immediately report it to the kelurahan, followed by the puskesmas,” he explained.

Volunteers who were active hand in hand in fogging social service activities following 19 children who were declared to be affected by dengue included Ahmad Sopian Noor, a member of the Samarinda City DPRD, from Laskar Merah Putih, LPM, Community Care Forum, PPK Annur, FLDM, Raudhatul Jannah, Mako 10, Tagana, FKDM North Samarinda, KPJ, Relindo, and PWI Kaltim Peduli.

Several volunteers met by the media said that efforts to borrow fogging tools had been attempted at the UPDT Puskesmas in various places, but the puskesmas were worried that no one was responsible for the equipment so they were not willing to lend them.

“We’ve been trying to find a loan for fogging equipment to various health centers, the last one I lobby was the Air Putih Health Center, but for some reason, I was worried that no one would be responsible so they weren’t willing to lend their fogging equipment,” explained Munanto, a volunteer from PWI Kaltim Peduli. .

This was also conveyed by Rully, who lobbied the Wonorejo Health Center to borrow a fogging device. The efforts of the volunteers to get the fogging device, which is a rare item and the price is quite expensive, did not back down even though it was rejected by various health centers that were known to have this tool.

Through the efforts of lobbying Ahmad Sopian Noor, a member of the DPRD for the City of Samarinda in the North Samarinda electoral district, the DKK gave one of their tools to be loaned.

Riyad, the technician who handled the fogging device at the Samarinda City Health Office during the process of lending the fogging device, Saturday, January 22 at the KPJ Command Post, said that in fact there was a fogging device in every Puskesmas.

“However, because the operation requires special skills, the puskesmas will not release their equipment carelessly to lend to other parties, it must be with their officers, and they have their own provisions where it needs to be sprayed and where it doesn’t,” he said.

During the loan process, Riyad also trained operators who would use this tool, from how to turn on, operate, and turn off the German-made Fogging device, to mixing the liquid used for this mosquito repellent.

“Especially for the fumigation liquid, it consists of 20 liters of diesel mixed with 1 liter of Cinoff, shaken until smooth and then put into the fogging tank,” said Riyad.
