On the 14th, a press conference for Coupang Play’s entertainment show ‘Shooting Star’ was held at the Stanford Hotel in Sangam, Seoul. PD Cho Hyo-jin, Park Ji-sung, Choi Yong-soo, Seol Ki-hyeon, and Kim Young-kwang attended the event.
‘Shooting Star’ is a growth soccer entertainment show in which retired legendary players gather as a team with general manager Park Ji-sung and coach Choi Yong-soo to challenge the K-League once again.

Sometimes, whenever I appear on a variety show, I say that the people who do it on a regular basis are amazing.” “I feel like it’s a level I can never keep up with, so I can’t say I’ll do it carelessly,” he said with a smile.
He said, “The reason I decided to appear on ‘Shooting Star’ was because I wanted to promote the charm of soccer. I wanted to open up the possibility for people who were not interested in soccer to become curious as well. I wanted young kids to think, ‘What kind of mentality do I need to have to become a legendary player?’ “It is a positive program that can educate and inspire others,” he explained.

He said, “I thought my character was far from entertainment. I was offered the job during a short break while on set, and I felt it was an attractive part. I thought that friends who had retired from active duty could get together again and revive their passion. I had a spirit of challenge. “He joked, “Just because it’s Director Park Ji-sung doesn’t mean he gave the OK willingly.”
He said, “I wanted to give the players equal opportunities to compete. I thought it would be an opportunity to improve my own performance and show my family and fans on the field. I gave them equal opportunities because I thought there might not be one in the future.”

I was always thinking of the coach.” He said, “I expected that it would not be easy after hearing the news from Director Choi Yong-soo. There were some difficult parts because the director had a different style from mine, but it was a very good experience because I had the opportunity to learn from the director.”
He said, “It was a time when there was no evaluation of the players at all. The coach and I were curious to what level our players could reach. I am grateful that the players did their best, but at the time, I expected that the league itself would not be easy.” He confessed.
Kim Young-kwang said, “I played soccer for a long time until I was 41 and then retired. I thought I could take a break now and that I would never play soccer again. But as a month or two passed after I retired, I felt like I was dying. I got an offer. “I felt like I was being revived again,” he said with a twinkle in his eye.

You would be surprised to see how passionately retired players are. “I wanted to shed light on it passionately,” he said, expressing his intention for the project.
He explained, “I think sports entertainment is mainly watched by fans, but I wanted to incorporate a boy’s cartoon-like sensibility into this program. I wanted to show how passionate people lead the story and project real life through the medium of sports.”
Producer Cho said, “It includes the process of building a body and playing passionately, as well as the emotional lines that illuminate the opposing team. I wanted to give ‘Shooting Star’ the feel of a boy’s cartoon. If you pay attention to those aspects and watch it, it will be attractive even if you are not a soccer fan. “You will be able to feel it,” he emphasized.
‘Shooting Star’ will premiere on the 22nd and is released every Friday at 8 PM.
