From January 1. the procedure for passing special vehicles with blue and red (or only blue) lights and special audible signals changed. When driving on a road with two or more lanes in one direction, vehicles in the far left lane will have to turn left and stop when they notice these special vehicles. All other vehicles on the right will have to retreat to the right and also stop, thus creating an emergency corridor for special vehicles. The new procedure will allow the drivers of the police, ambulance, fire or other special vehicles to reach the scene of the accident more quickly and thus contribute to saving lives.
The procedure has been clarified in two traffic situations that occur in order to enter or leave the common acceleration and deceleration lane. A driver traveling in an acceleration lane and intending to enter (rearrange) a traffic lane must give way to a vehicle moving in a traffic lane or to a vehicle shifting in the deceleration lane. If the driver of a vehicle running in an acceleration lane continues to travel in the same lane directly (from the acceleration lane to the deceleration lane) and does not intend to change to an adjacent lane (to enter a traffic flow), the vehicle leaving the deceleration lane must vehicle driver.
In order to enable safe and prompt access to yards, police cars, ambulances or other special vehicles, service vehicles, etc., from 1 January. a ban on standing at the intersection of the street and the entrance to the territory and closer than 5 m from it is imposed. This amendment will address the challenge for some drivers of leaving a narrow entrance or leaving other vehicles on the road due to cars parked at the intersection and at the intersections. The amendment will also ensure adequate traffic conditions for pedestrians, cyclists and people with individual needs, whose infrastructure is blocked by cars parked at the entrance.
To date, drivers are confused at a traffic light-controlled intersection when one driver turns and the other (from the side road) turns to the right and their driving trajectories intersect. The amendments to the KET, which will take effect from the New Year, stipulate that when turning at an intersection where traffic is regulated by a traffic light, the driver must give way to road users moving from other directions according to the permitted traffic light (for example, right-handed drivers). This defines a clear order of priority to avoid contentious or emergency situations.
At present, some electric vehicle drivers do not immediately pull the electric vehicle out of the charging station. This reduces the availability of charging points for other electric vehicle drivers. Therefore, from the new ones, the drivers of electric vehicles are required to immediately remove the charged vehicle from the place of charging of the electric vehicle, unless the road signs provide otherwise.
From 2022 June 1 Other changes to the KET will come into force, introducing a new way of organizing traffic – a bicycle street, two types of traffic lanes marked with the letter A or the symbol A + will appear, and other minor changes are planned.
