Special conditions this year, but for some of you, the tradition of champagne and good food remains a priority. So a question: is water a cure for “hangovers”? We talk about it with doctor Jérôme Marty, president of the French union for free medicine.

“We urinate more liquid than we ingest”, explains Dr. Marty. This dehydration can lead to headaches and severe headaches. Drinking a lot of water allows you to rehydrate and can therefore alleviate the headache after a party, but the main advice is to drink plenty of water during the meal in order to limit the feeling of thirst and especially limit his alcohol consumption.

Jérôme Marty reminds us that we barely eliminate 0.15 grams of alcohol per hour! Clearly, if an individual is at 0.6 grams of alcohol in the blood, it will take 4 to 5 hours to eliminate it.

Schoum, Hepatoum …“These are grandmother’s remedies”, specifies Jérôme Marty. Drinks that have choleretic virtues, that is to say that they allow to empty the gallbladder or to accelerate the process, but “it has no real effectiveness against the consequences of excess alcohol”, he adds.
