Over for the old fire brigade magazine: A renovation would be too expensive – Lebern-Bucheggberg-Wasseramt – Solothurn

The old fire department store of the municipality of Recherswil is in need of renovation. Today the community and the school store some items in this building. In addition, the music society has stored a platform for concert performances and the rabbit and poultry breeders association has stored rabbit stalls. In 2018, a loan for the refurbishment of the fire department magazine was rejected at the community meeting. At the club convention, according to mayor Hardy Jäggi, the clubs showed little interest in maintaining the building or in actively helping with a renovation.

The Planning and Real Estate Commission (PLK) has therefore drawn up various variants and rough cost estimates since then. These range from demolition of the building without replacement to demolition with a new building for 190,000 francs. However, it is not up to the municipality to provide the associations with storage space. Everything that the community and the school have stored in the warehouse can also be stored in another location in a community property. The PLK therefore applies – also with a view to Recherswil’s financial situation – to demolish the building.

The pros and cons are balanced

Christian Erzer (FDP) regrets this decision. «We pay money for regional institutions. We don’t do anything for our own clubs. ” He also wondered whether the clubs had enough income to rent storage space. Hardy Jäggi contradicted: “The clubs receive annual contributions from the community and can use our premises free of charge.” This is only about the storage options.

Jan Flückiger (FDP) was torn. «We are basically not obliged to provide storage space. I still think it’s a bad sign. ” For Peter Christen (SP) safety comes first. «The building is in poor condition. Do we want to risk something falling on someone’s head? ” He, according to Erzer, fears that the rabbit and poultry breeders’ association will die afterwards.

Irene Rüfenacht (CVP) thought it was strange that the playgroup asked rent for a new restaurant, but two clubs were given free storage space. «Up until now this was possible without any problems, and that’s fine with me too. But the renovation is too expensive. “

After all these votes, Hardy Jäggi made a compromise proposal. “We’re tearing the magazine off as suggested. But we get in touch with the two clubs that still store things in the warehouse and help them find a new place. ” At the same time, the PLK should be commissioned to determine the costs for the dismantling. This proposal was approved with four yes, two no and one abstention.

New place for the playgroup

The Sunnechringeli playgroup will be able to use the Kindergarten im Winkel as a playgroup location in the future. So far it was housed in a container. There comfort and space are only limited. That is why children from Recherswil were taken to other play groups.

After detailed discussions, the preliminary advisory PLK agreed with the playgroup that they would pay a monthly rent of CHF 200 for the restaurant. This should be understood as a share of the heating and ancillary costs. The club also generates income with the playgroup, which is why this amount is justified. In addition, the PLK assumes that more children from Recherswil will come to Sunnechringeli with the new premises.

Playgroup and school should exchange ideas

In the municipal council, the proposal met with mixed feelings. Irene Rüfenacht campaigned for the playgroup to be exempted from rent. In the surrounding communities nothing has to be paid for, and other associations can use the premises in Recherswil free of charge. Peter Christen, however, found the amount of 200 francs appropriate. He also suggested that those responsible for playgroups should exchange ideas with the school.

Jan Flückiger also supports this. However, this cannot be linked to the rent of the kindergarten. “There are already contacts between playgroups and schools. That must continue to happen informally, ”says Flückiger. As head of the education department, however, he will still find out how it works today and whether there is a need to deepen this exchange if necessary.
