It shows that approximately 1.2 million non-binary people currently live in the United States, out of a total population of 328 million. The study states that about 58% of these non-binary people are white. There are also 15% of individuals of Latin American origin, 9% of black people, and 16% of multiple origins. The majority of non-binary people living in the United States are under the age of 29, the study also claims. According to Ilan H. Meyer, who co-directed the work, these statistics are likely to evolve, given that non-binary is more and more invoked and accepted nowadays. As for her co-author Bianca DM Wilson, she recalls that non-binary people constitute a substantial part of the LGBT + community, and that they experience a certain number of oppressions.
