Less neglected than before, vintage female models have been very popular for several years. The fact is that nowadays, women turn out to be just as demanding as men when it comes to fine horology.
In this respect, let us note in this auction a Piaget “Tank” in white gold with an ultra-thin movement (lot 4), a Blancpain in gold and steel with a white dial (lot 1) or, still in the original dials, an Omega in yellow gold with an “embossed” dial (lot 34). Let’s end this selection as rare as they are affordable (between 1,000 and 3,000 euros) with a very beautiful Jaeger-LeCoultre Etrier with a slate dial (lot 10).
Cartier’s “outsider” models
Cartier has been on the rise for a few years now. If we know the best-sellers of the house of Rue de la Paix, there are still many models to discover or rediscover. Examples from the Must collections include a Vendôme with a black lacquered dial (lot 3), a Panthère Vendôme (round version) in gold and steel (lot 5), a rare Ellipse lady in yellow gold and mechanical movement (lot 84).
A known model may also have been produced in few copies in certain versions,
like the tilting tank in steel with mechanical movement (lot 8) and a tub (lot 23) in an unusual variation in white gold. All estimated between 1,400 and 6,000 euros, the price of an alliance or an iconic bracelet in store.
LIP and YEMA, sports chronographs from the 1970s are in the spotlight
Known for their city watches from the 1950s to the 1970s, these two French brands marked the watchmaking landscape with their sports creations during the seventies. LIP stands out with a Panda Cushion chronograph (lot 46) which is reminiscent of Breitling’s Top Time.
For its part, Yema will be represented with the Air-Terre-Mer trilogy, namely the Flygraph models (lot
51), Rallye (lot 38) and Yachtgraph (lot 52). These emblematic models, all with mechanical movements and in very good condition, recall the golden age of French watchmaking. Between 1,600 and 2,500 euros, these chronographs remain affordable, sometimes at the same price as contemporary models, with the added charm of vintage.
Jaeger LeCoultre, without compromise between chic and sport
Normandy, a region of horses, will certainly be sensitive to a selection of Reverso watches. Designed in the 1930s for English soldiers playing polo in India, this model will be available in a multitude of more or less complicated versions (this is also its big comeback at Watches & Wonders this year).
From the unisex classic in steel (lot 6) to the one with moon phases in white gold (lot 75), via the Art Deco model also in precious metal (lot 9), from 3,000 to 10,000 euros, a wide range
will be offered to fans.
The great complications of the great manufactures
The Patek Phillipe manufacture will be represented with two rare productions: an Ellipse (with handles) with its famous dial in sunray blue gold (lot 7) and a Traveltime in pink gold with a “Clou de Paris” bezel (lot 83), the perfect companion. of the gentleman globetrotter.
Also, a Blancpain Villeret, in yellow gold which is equipped with an automatic movement with perpetual calendar (lot 77). These watches are estimated between 6,500 and 12,500 euros.
Breitling and Heuer, the essential duo of sports watches
Sometimes sisters, sometimes best enemies, these two Swiss houses reached their peak in the 1970s and 1980s, with shaped cases and associations with aviation or the automobile. The Datora (lot 32) and Pilote Sprint with blue dial (lot 37) from Breitling will face the Autavia Panda (lot 37) and Carrera Chronomatic 15 (lot 15) on the starting line, in a bidding battle between 2,500 and 4,500 euros.
