Over 700,000 children go to school

Over 700,000 children start school on September 15. Just over 57 thousand of them will cross the threshold of classrooms for the first time.

The beginning of the school year will be solemnly celebrated in 2349 schools in the country. Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov will open the school year at the National Nature and Mathematics High School “Acad. Lyubomir Chakalov” in Sofia and at the “Vasil Levski” Elementary School in the Plovdiv village of Karadjovo. President Rumen Radev will be in Sadovo.

Nearly 30,000 children study in Bulgarian schools abroad in a total of 43 countries.

Textbooks from first to seventh grade will be available in PDF format on the “Digital Backpack” platform, the prime minister said on Wednesday. As of this year, the previous paper notes for excused absences from school will no longer be used. They will be replaced by digital ones from October 1.
