A festive meal that goes wrong. In Loire-Atlantique, more than 700 people fell ill after a Christmas meal organized by the Airbus Atlantic company located in Montoir-de-Bretagne (Loire-Atlantique), reports West France Thursday December 21. According to the Pays de la Loire Regional Health Agency (ARS), “clinical signs of vomiting or diarrhea, the vast majority of which occurred on the days of December 15 and 16” were visible among the impacted people.
Doubts about cheese
The ARS, in conjunction with Public Health France and the Departmental Directorate for Population Protection, launched an investigation “to find the origin of this food poisoning and take appropriate preventive measures”. It is the festive meal of December 14 which is currently in question. “It was worse than my delivery. I suffered headaches like never before”testified an employee at Ouest France.
According to the press relations manager for Airbus Altantic, “no serious case required hospitalization”. Samples of each dish on the menu were taken for analysis. Although oysters are often implicated in this type of poisoning, there were none on the menu for this meal. The first doubts are about the cheese that was served but we will have to wait until next week to have the first results.
