Over 70% of Americans fear violence and post-election riots – Executive Digest

About three-quarters of Americans are concerned about riots and violence after election day, according to a new poll by JL Partners-Independent.

Almost three out of four voters (72%) describe themselves as “very or very concerned about post-election violence”, according to the survey.

Concerns are greater among President Trump’s supporters – 77% said they fear violence and unrest. Among former Vice President Biden’s supporters, 73% described these concerns.

Such fears are directly associated with Americans’ concerns since it will not be clear, until November 4, who won the presidential race. In this sense, more than two thirds of respondents (68%) said they were “very or very concerned” about the fact that the election results are not enlightening.

Trump has repeatedly avoided questions about whether or not he will accept the election results and, in this way, whether or not he will guarantee a peaceful transition of power.

According to Independent, the poll results also appear to be linked to another widespread fear: the election is not fair or free from interference. 66% of respondents have such concerns after Trump criticized postal votes.

In addition, Democrats have raised concerns about Trump’s recent comments on sometimes violent white supremacist groups such as the Proud Boys, a far-right neo-fascist organization affiliated with white supremacists.

The President affirmed, on September 30, that he did not know much about this group, despite the fact that the previous night, during the first presidential debate, he asked its members to “stand back and sit idly by” when asked to condemn all of these groups.

The observation was one of the most powerful in the debate between Trump and Biden. The moderator, Chris Wallace of Fox News, he asked Trump if he would be “willing to condemn white supremacists and militia groups”. “I am willing to do that,” replied the President. However, instead, he raised questions about the ongoing protests of the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement, adding: “Almost everything I see is from the left wing, not the right wing. I want to see peace ”.

In the meantime, protests are already being planned in the United States if the President challenges the outcome of the elections, which is scheduled for November 3.
