Over 6,500 liters of fake blood: “Evil Dead Rise” will be one of the bloodiest horror films of all time – new pictures released! – Cinema news

The fifth “Dance of the Devils” film is finally in the can! Director Lee Cronin took this as an opportunity to share a few new pictures from the shooting and to reveal how much blood awaits us in “Evil Dead Rise”: 6,500 liters.

Sony Pictures

“The most shocking film you will ever see” promised the official poster for “Evil Dead” 2013. But whether this promise was actually kept in the end? It doesn’t matter. Because the new edition of “Tanz der Teufel” by Fede Alvarez (“Don’t Breathe”) was not only a complete success at the box office, but also delighted many fans of the legendary Waldhütten horror – especially those who like it particularly bloody to have.

Eight years later, the franchise is now – unsurprisingly – in the next, a total of fifth round in the cinema. And – just as unsurprisingly – everyone who can’t see blood should steer clear of “Evil Dead Rise”. As director Lee Cronin (“The Hole In The Ground”) has now revealed, More than 6,500 liters of artificial blood were used during the shooting. And that makes the film one of the bloodiest films of all time.

Who messed around the set the most: The bloodiest films of all time

Stanley Kubrick needed just 3,000 liters for “Shining” (despite the gigantic gush of blood in the elevator scene) – but at least more than Quentin Tarantino’s “Kill Bill” (1,700 liters) and “Freddy Vs. Jason” (1,200 liters) combined. On the other hand, “Evil Dead Rise” has to admit defeat to the crazy meta-horror fun “Cabin In The Woods” (800,000 liters), Alexandre Aja’s fun splatter “Piranha 3D” (300,000 liters) and also “Evil Dead” from 2013 (250,000 liters). In the end, the red juice of life only plays a minor role anyway. It is well known that more blood does not make a better film.

This awaits us (also) in “Evil Dead Rise”

The first batch of pictures from “Evil Dead Rise” showed that it will be bloody again. An impression that director Cronin now underlines with his latest statement and a few other snapshots from the set:

Incidentally, the first details of the content of the film suggest that the series will once again walk on new paths. After three films with Bruce Campbell as Ash, a soft reboot and the series “Ash Vs. Evil Dead”, the “Dance of the Devils” series is also pretty back and forth – even if not nearly as confused as in the case of, for example “Halloween”.

It couldn’t be more complicated: We explain the confusing “Halloween” timelines

For the first time, the two sisters Beth (Lily Sullivan) and Ellie (Alyssa Sutherland) are at the center of “Evil Dead Rise”, who have to grapple with an invasion of dark forces in Los Angeles. From the forest hut it finally ends up in the big city.

Campbell and original director Sam Raimi are part of it again, but only in the producer role. “Evil Dead Rise” has not yet officially released in theaters. However, the film is expected to be released in the course of 2022.
