“Over 60 Vaccination Points for Covid-19 and Influenza in Lima and Callao”

The Ministry of Health (Minsa) has enabled more than 60 vaccination points in different districts of Metropolitan Lima and Callao so that the population can receive, today, Sunday, April 23, the vaccine against covid-19 or against influenza.

Along these lines, the Minsa recalls that people between the ages of 18 and 59, who have the fourth dose against covid-19, can now receive the bivalent vaccine, as long as 2 months have passed since the last vaccine.

In the case of adults over 60 years of age and people with a risk factor, they must have the third dose at least to receive the bivalent vaccine, as long as 2 months have passed since the last vaccine.

In the case of pregnant women, they may receive it after 12 weeks of gestation, as long as 2 months have passed since the fourth dose.

Cancer patients can be immunized with the bivalent vaccine 3 months after the fourth dose and only if they have finished their cancer treatment, with the recommendation of their doctor.

From what age can I get vaccinated against covid-19?

On September 10, the Ministry of Health updated the National Vaccination Plan against Covid-19, which will include immunization of the entire population from 6 months of life.

Parents should remember that the second dose of the vaccine must be given 28 days after the first dose.

These premises have large rooms for the application of the corresponding dose, as well as the rest time after having been immunized.

Vaccination Week of the Americas

The Minsa kicked off Vaccination Week in the Americas, which will run until April 29 in Lima and other regions. This year the goal is to vaccinate 330,000 girls, boys and people of different ages from all over the country.

With the motto, “Get up to date, each vaccine counts”, the aim is to position vaccination in the community and encourage them to complete their doses against covid-19 and the Regular Scheme to protect themselves from 28 vaccine-preventable diseases.

In this sense, the Minister of Health, Rosa Gutiérrez, explained that the country has a vaccination gap of 20% and to close it, a series of strategies are being implemented at the national level.

“After the covid-19 pandemic we were at 73% vaccination coverage, currently we are around 80% and to close that gap we have established that 7,400 brigades travel throughout the country, in addition to the 8,200 vaccination points and the 25 hospitals where people can go to complete their doses,” said the head of the sector.

During this day all the vaccines of the Regular Scheme will be provided: against diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, hepatitis B, influenza, poliomyelitis, measles, rubella, mumps, chickenpox, tuberculosis, meningitis, yellow fever, pneumonia, rotavirus diarrhea, cancer of cervix by Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), among others.

Likewise, doctors and health professionals will offer consultations in Pediatrics, Cardiology, Urology, Gastroenterology, Pediatric Dentistry, among other specialties.

As part of the closure of health gaps at the national level, the Ministry will prioritize vaccination in areas of difficult access, in dispersed communities, as well as in districts with low coverage and presence of vulnerable populations.

For this reason, the Minsa invites families to go to the nearest health establishment to complete the corresponding doses.
