Over 50,000 new infected in the UK

For the third day in a row, the infection rate in the UK is the highest it has been since mid-January, reports Sky News.

In the last 24 hours, 49 Britons have died of the disease, and in just a few days, July 19, almost all coronary restrictions in England will ease.

Despite the increase in infection, the R-number, which shows how many people an infected person spreads the virus to, fell from 1.4 to 1.2 on Friday.

Statistics from the Office for National Statistics show that by July 10, probably 1 in 95 in England will have had covid-19 since the pandemic started.
