The Bayern Munich coach said on Friday that he had received death threats after the Bavarian club were eliminated by Villarreal in the Champions League. “I know that I will always be criticized from all sides, it’s normal and I can deal with it. But with 450 death threats on Instagram, it’s less easy, “he said before Bayern’s trip to Bielefeld on Sunday in the German championship.
“If people want to kill me, that’s one thing, but they’re attacking my own mother who isn’t even interested in football,” the coach lamented. “I can’t understand it. As soon as they turn off the television, people forget all decency. And they think they’re right, that’s the worst part,” he continued.
Asked about the possibility of seeing him file a complaint, Nagelsmann felt that the threats were too numerous for this to be possible. “I wouldn’t see the end of it. I get some after every game, regardless of who wins.”
Julian Nagelsmann is the second member of the Bayern entourage to have been threatened this week after the surprise elimination in the quarter-finals of the Champions League on Tuesday against Villarreal, with a much lower record than the German giants.
The wife and son of sports director Hasan Salihamidzic also said Wednesday and Thursday that they had been the target of threats, showing screenshots of messages received on Instagram.
Nagelsmann, however, clarified that he does not expect Bayern to increase security measures. “We are private people. I don’t want to provoke anyone and no one has come to my house yet, ”to threaten me, he stressed.
