UN agency: Over 340,000 Palestinians displaced in Gaza Strip, shelters overcrowded
According to the Palestinian News Agency on the 12th, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) stated in its latest report on the situation in the Gaza Strip that more than 340,000 Palestinians are currently displaced in the Gaza Strip and shelters are overcrowded. Food and drinking water are limited.
UNRWA said that as the Israeli army continued air strikes and shelling on the Gaza Strip, the number of displaced people in emergency shelters increased every day and the shelters were overcrowded. Coupled with Israel’s comprehensive blockade of the Gaza Strip and the destruction of infrastructure, it is urgent to solve the problem of water shortages in emergency shelters and throughout the Gaza Strip.
Currently, UNRWA has jointly established an emergency water working group with UNICEF and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs to explore solutions for drinking water supply inside and outside shelters. (Headquarters reporter Li Xiang)
