Brazil: More than $ 300,000 released for environmental education projects
Brasília – The Ministry of the Environment has released more than $ 300,000 for environmental education projects in the state of Acre and in the municipality of Santos, São Paulo.
The aim of these actions is to provide training in environmental legislation to rural producers, as well as to inform the population on the correct disposal of waste, according to a statement from the ministry.
In Acre, technicians and municipal managers will receive training to strengthen compliance with basic environmental standards and improve service and advice to rural producers.
The project will contribute to the economic development of rural communities in the state, which depend on forest resources and services to generate employment and income in the region.
In the municipality of Santos, the project includes workshops and educational material to raise awareness among local communities about the reuse of recyclable waste.
Improper waste disposal and waste of raw materials directly affect the population, especially low-income communities. In coastal cities, environmentally sound disposal of waste deserves special attention, given the problem of waste at sea.
