In Baden-Württemberg, Germany’s first reporting platform for investigating tax fraudsters received around 3,000 tips last year. This gives the Treasury additional tax revenue in the six-digit range.

The first nationwide reporting platform for identifying tax fraudsters received 3,068 tips in Baden-Württemberg last year. This is what the “Handelsblatt” writes, citing the Ministry of Finance. 579 entries were made in a different way. 89 procedures were initiated through reports via the anonymous portal. In total, digital and analogue notifications in 2022 brought in around 977,000 euros more in taxes.

“The quality of the information is not necessarily better online, but we have also received relevant information,” the Ministry of Finance told the “Handelsblatt”. According to the newspaper, other federal states want to set up anonymous reporting portals for tax fraud.
