Over 300 Minors Cited for Using Fake IDs at New York Concerts and Bars

For using fake driver’s licenses in hopes of obtaining an alcoholic beverage at a concert or bar, 312 minors were caught and cited by the New York Department of Vehicles.

In operations carried out at concerts and bars in the State, a total of 389 fake licenses were seized during the summer, the DMV reported.

Of that total, they explained, 312 young people were cited for the offense.

Through a statement, the department reported that they work in collaboration with these places to detect these apocryphal documents.

They added that because of security features that were changed last year, fake licenses are easier to detect.

Last year, 550 fake licenses were seized, so authorities commented that the decrease in the number of apocryphal identifications is a good indicator.

Of the total licenses found, 104 were seized in New York City.

Under New York State regulations, minors caught using fraudulent identification as proof of age will have their license application privileges suspended.
