The federal police have picked up more than 300 migrants in East Saxony since Friday. As the Federal Police Inspectorate in Ebersbach announced, emergency services picked up a total of 130 migrants in the Bautzen area, near Weißenberg and in the border triangle with Poland and the Czech Republic over the weekend alone. These included women, young people and small children. The emergency services arrested three suspected smugglers there.

In one case, a 35-year-old Ukrainian is said to have brought 32 men and young people to Oppach in a van. According to the investigation, they were smuggled from Turkey on the Balkan route via the Czech Republic. According to information from witnesses, the federal police arrested the suspected smuggler several kilometers away on Federal Highway 96. He should be brought before the magistrate for smuggling in foreigners under life-threatening circumstances.
