Over 20 corona patients in Norwegian hospitals – VG

The number has not been higher since June.

Recent figures from the Norwegian Directorate of Health show that more than 20 corona infections have been admitted to Norwegian hospitals. This is the highest number since 27 June.

But still no patients are so ill that they need ventilator treatment.

Although there has been a large increase in the number of infected after the summer, the same increase has not been seen in the number of hospitalized – or the number of dead.

One of the reasons is, according to FHI, that there are now so many young people infected. People in their 20s were at the peak of infection in both June and August – and these have a low risk of becoming seriously ill. This was not the case in March, when the infected were on average much older.

In a risk assessment they also point out that young people may have limited contact with the elderly and people at risk, those who have a greater chance of being admitted. FHI also believes that more testing means that more cases with mild or no symptoms are detected.

New death this weekend

On Sunday, a corona patient died at Oslo University Hospital. The hospital will not say where the person was from, or how old he was.

This is the second death at the hospital in September – and the nineteenth at the hospital in total.
