UDINE. Over 13,000 doctors, nurses and staff working in health facilities have already booked the anti Covid-19 vaccination. At 6 pm, the anti-Covid vaccinations carried out in Friuli Venezia Giulia were 545 and will reach about 700 at the end of the day, which will add up to the 265 of the Vax day last Sunday.

“The high number of adhesions – comment the governor and his deputy Massimiliano Fedriga and Riccardo Riccardi – is an encouraging sign that testifies to the confidence placed by the population, starting from its health system, in the ability of the vaccine to help eradicate the pandemic “. Faced with such encouraging numbers, Fedriga and Riccardi remind those who, in the last few hours, continue to criticize the organization that “the high number of bookings and the ability of our structures to meet requests provide an eloquent answer to those who, in recent days, it has raised doubts about the organizational adequacy of the regional health system ».
Despite the bad weather, in Friuli Venezia Giulia the Pfizer-Biontech vaccine arrived in time to allow the Region to respect the program of the anti Covd-19 vaccination campaign after the Vaccine-day. Yesterday afternoon, at 2 pm, in Udine, Tolmezzo, and Monfalcone, an hour earlier in Pordenone, the first doses were injected to the health and non-health workers of the regional health service and of the accredited and affiliated private structures. The participation of doctors and nurses employed by the health authorities and cooperatives and all the other figures who work in hospitals, retirement homes and private clinics was good.-
The numbers
The operation got underway yesterday morning with the delivery of the 14,000 040 doses in the five vaccination centers equipped with the necessary refrigerators to store the drug at minus 70 degrees. 4,680 doses were delivered to Udine, 2,510 to Pordenone, the same number in Trieste, 1,170 in Tolmezzo and Monfalcone. The vaccine comes in boxes containing 195 ampoules with six doses each. One more than expected. “This is the weekly quantity that we will continue to receive from now on” assures the director general of the regional health coordination agency (ARCS), Giuseppe Tonutti, excluding a massive presence of no vax. Inevitably, the organization needs a few days of running-in to guarantee around 2,000 vaccinations per day. About 12,000 a week. “In the first two days – continues Tonutti – we estimate to have an injection every 10 minutes then one every six minutes, when fully operational we plan to do 2 thousand vaccinations every day”.
In retirement homes
The operators of nursing homes are also involved in the first phase of vaccination. Yesterday, ARCS began to contact the managers of the facilities for the elderly inviting them to compile and transmit the membership lists. “As soon as they are ready we start vaccinating them in the five centers – confirms Tonutti -, while the elderly will be immunized within the structures”.
Reservations
Reservations can be made at various points including the one-stop booking centers even if the latter is the last opportunity to avoid clogging up ordinary business. «In many departments, cups have been set up through which it is possible to book the vaccine for patients and staff. It is an internal tool that allows operators to make reservations even while they are working ».
Tonutti emphasizes this to say that the same procedure has also been activated in private and accredited nursing homes and in some retirement homes. And those who do not have this service available can go to pharmacies and, as a last resort, to the Cups. “We have invited general practitioners – adds the Arcs general manager – to book vaccinations through pharmacies in the area”. At the moment, the staff of the regional health service operates in the vaccination centers and the director ensures that no dose of vaccine will be wasted once it is thawed.
