The Chinese company Geely Holding Group, which owns Volvo, Polestar and Lotus, has invested huge sums in the development of batteries, and it seems that these investments are not in vain. At a world expo this week, the company showed off an entirely new type of battery that provides a range of 1,000 kilometers on a single charge that lasts 15 minutes.
Currently, such a charge would take between 30 minutes and an hour depending on the technology, power and station used, but Geely promises to reduce this time significantly. At the moment, the company does not reveal more details about the battery, but we expect that it will soon be presented in a serial version or in one of the models of the brands.
Slow charging and low mileage are the two things that are currently stopping most people from buying an electric car. This type of battery would practically solve both problems at the same time, which would certainly help a lot, but would probably also bring to the fore another major problem, namely the price.
