Over 100 Target Stores Temporarily Closed Due to Protests – Telemundo New York (47)

NEW YORK – More than 100 Target stores in different parts of the country will temporarily close following protests sparked by the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

This was announced by the warehouse chain in
a statement on Sunday.

“We are heartbroken over the death of George Floyd and the pain he is causing in communities across the country. At this time, we have made the decision to close several of our stores, “they write in the statement.

“We anticipate that most stores will be temporarily closed. Our focus will continue to be the safety of our team members and helping our community to heal. ”

Target noted that employees will receive payment of up to 14 days of scheduled hours during store closings, including payment of the COVID-19 premium. They will also be able to work at other Target locations close to closed if possible.

In New York, the stores that will temporarily close are:

The closings are primarily focused on Minnesota, California, Texas, New York, Colorado, Pennsylvania, and Illinois. No closings were reported in Nevada, Florida, New England, Arizona, Utah, Washington DC, or Puerto Rico.
