Over 100 Kilos of Cocaine Seized in Western Norway in Largest Bust Ever

The find comes in a series of large national cocaine seizures recently.

More than 100 kilos of cocaine have been seized in connection with a cargo vessel from South America, the Customs Agency reports in a press release on Tuesday morning.

They state that it is the biggest thing that has ever been done in Western Norway.

The discovery was made on the night of Thursday 13 April at Husnes in Kvinnherad municipality as part of an ordinary customs check.

There, 100 kilograms of cocaine were found in the trunk of a car.

– In close and good cooperation with the police and the coastguard, action was taken against a vehicle in connection with a vessel at the harbor at Husnes, says area manager Bård Ynnesdal at the Customs Office.

Thus, larger investigations were initiated.

The substance must have been attached below the waterline on the ship.

– Here we see how large vessels are used to transport drugs below the waterline, often without the crew being aware of this, says Bård Ynnesdal, area manager at the Customs Agency.

The find is the latest in a series of large cocaine seizures in Norway recently.

Sunday between 800 and 900 kilograms of cocaine was found at the fruit wholesaler Bama in Oslo.

It happened after around 800 kilograms were found in a similar warehouse 30. mars.

In less than three weeks, more than 1,600 kilos of cocaine have been found in banana crates at Bama in Groruddalen.

The shipment came from Ecuador and was probably split up in Rotterdam in the Netherlands, area manager Tim Gurrik at the Customs Agency told VG.
