Over 1.1 Million Ukrainians Receive Pensions Exceeding 10,000 Hryvnia: RBC-Ukraine Report

As of January 1, 2024, 1,151,008 Ukrainians received pensions of more than 10 thousand hryvnia. This is 10.9% of the total number of pensioners (10,51,653 people).

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to data from the Pension Fund of Ukraine (PFU).

According to the PFU, more than half of Ukrainians receive pensions of up to 4 thousand hryvnia.

The size of pensions is distributed as follows:

  • up to 2000 hryvnia – 0.6%, 64,601 people, average pension – 1,234.09 hryvnia,
  • from 2001 to 3000 hryvnia – 29.1%, 3,058,670 people, average pension – 2,618.7 hryvnia,
  • from 3001 to 4000 hryvnia – 21.3%, 2,234,970 people, average pension – 3,546.54 hryvnia,
  • from 4001 to 5000 hryvnia – 14.9%, 1,567,785 people, average pension – 4,406.45 hryvnia,
  • from 5001 to 10000 hryvnia – 23.2%, 2,439,503 people, average pension – 6,841.75 hryvnia,
  • over 10,000 hryvnia – 10.9%, 1,151,008 people, average pension – 14,786.47 hryvnia.

Let us remind you that the average pension for 2023 increased by 762.66 hryvnia or 16.5% to 5,385.25 hryvnia. At the same time, the official inflation rate in Ukraine for 2023 was about 5%.

The main increase in pensions in 2023 occurred during indexation, which took place on March 1.
