Ovens are less attractive to Indonesians, why? All pages

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Oven is one of electronic devices in the home kitchen that serves to bake food.

Way of work oven when used is to utilize a source of electric or gas energy. The heating element in the oven converts the two energy sources into heat, which is distributed evenly throughout the inside of the oven chamber.

By utilizing this heat source, the oven is able to cook or bake food according to the time needed.

In essence, the oven was created to simplify the cooking process in a short time.

From the sophisticated technology in the oven, did you know that there are not so many people who are interested in ovens in Indonesia?

This was conveyed by Product Strategic Group Assistant General Manager of Home Appliances PT. Sharp Electronic Indonesia, Andrew Gultom, in the virtual press conference and launching of the Sharp Healsio Superheated Steam Oven which was followed Kompas.com, Wednesday (11/11/2020).

“Indeed we know that in Indonesia this is for microwave (oven) the penetration ratio (of users) is still very small, “said Andrew.

Andrew explained that one of the obstacles is the lack of enthusiasts for ovens due to the high consumption of energy required when someone uses the oven.

For a typical oven, the lowest electric power is around 400 watts. If oven technology gets more sophisticated, the electric power can reach more than 800 watts.

Apart from high electrical power, the thing that makes ovens less attractive to Indonesians is the selling price which is considered ‘expensive’ by some people.

On the same occasion, General Manager of National Sales of PT Sharp Electronic Indonesia, Andry Utomo, said that selling ovens is indeed difficult to sell as many as possible in Indonesian society.

“Indeed, the oven market does not cover all market segments, for the middle to upper segment, millennial to professional groups. We are also targeting certain segments in certain cities,” said Andry.

Andry also admitted that the latest oven sold by his company, namely the Sharp Healsio Superheated Steam Oven, will not be sold as many as other electronic products.

Within one year, Andry only targets 1,000 sales for the oven, which is priced at Rp. 8 million.

From the above reasons, then do not be surprised if the presence of the oven will rarely be found, because there are still few people in Indonesia who want to put the oven in their home kitchen.
