In view of the commemoration of the International Children’s and Youth Book Day.
International Children’s and Young People’s Book Day is celebrated on April 2, coinciding with the birthday of Danish writer Hans Christian Andersen and it is that date that has motivated the Office for the Protection of the Rights of Children and Adolescents (OPD), of the Government of Magallanes to carry out the campaign “Let’s share lyrics”, to collect books, with the ultimate aim of awakening interest in reading through books and encouraging people to make it a habit of life.
The idea is to collect books from the Magellan community, which will then be delivered to families who are interested in creating the habit of reading in their sons and daughters. For this, donations are already being received, a process that will last until March 31.
The provincial governor of Magallanes, Alejandro Vásquez Servieri, highlighted this unique campaign, highlighting that “The work carried out by the provincial OPD is remarkable, always fulfilling the objective of putting children first, giving them the right place, promoting various activities in those who are motivated, not only for them to learn what their rights are, but also by providing the instances, tools and activities to do so. Encouraging the habit of reading, opens a world of possibilities, culture, understanding, understanding of the world around them, history, being creative, is a tool for life. So we are very happy with this campaign, which we hope will bring together many books that will make many children and adolescents happy “
For its part, the Provincial OPD Coordinator (s) Paula Turina, explained that “the books will be received, from Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 17:00 in our offices located at Calle Primera Junta de Gobierno # 0225, Barrio 18 de Septiembre or at the offices of the Magallanes Provincial Government, located at Julio Roca # 924. We will also meet in other parts of the commune to collect books, which will be reported through our different social networks ”.
“We are promoting one of the fundamental rights of boys, girls and adolescents, which is the right that they have to education. Reading is part of this, it opens the door to culture and gives them opportunities for life ”, stated the Coordinator.
The call then is to approach the provincial government or the offices of the OPD, to contribute to this beautiful campaign, bringing new or used books; children’s stories, coloring books, children’s literature in general, comics, magazines, among others.
The world of letters opens the door to an infinite world and brings only benefits and advantages. This is your chance to share what you’ve read: “Let’s share lyrics!”
