This season, the LNOB will showcase the talents of renowned guest soloists alongside its own extraordinary performers. “We are notably pleased that by the end of the season, Latvian opera stars Inga Kalna, Liene Kinča, Zanda Švēde, Alexander Antonenko, and Egils Siliņš will be interpreted for us after a long time,” says Sandis Voldiņš, Chairman of the Board of the Latvian National Opera and Ballet.
Highlights of the Season
The season kicks off with Giuseppe Verdi’s Traviata on February 7, featuring Ukrainian tenor Valentin Ditjuk in the role of Alfred Germon. ditjuk,who previously captivated Latvian audiences in Faust,returns to the LNOB stage with his powerful vocals. On February 28, Latvian tenor Alexander Antonenko will take on the role of Cavaradossi in Tosca, while Georgian tenor Iraklie Kahidze will portray Radames in Aida on March 28. Ukrainian tenor Dmitro Popov will also grace the stage as Cavaradossi on April 26, and Czech tenor Pavel Chernoh will reprise his role as Alfred in Traviata on May 2.
A celebration of Female Talent
The season also highlights the brilliance of female opera singers.Czech mezzo-soprano Esther Pavlu will make her Latvian debut in the title role of Carmen on February 5. French soprano Perina Madefa will enchant audiences as Michaela in Carmen and as Marguerite in Faust on March 12.
