Outstanding Performance by Sven Bartmann and HSG Krefeld Niederrhein in Victory Against HSG Rodgau Nieder-Roden

Sven Bartmann was the outstanding player in the top game of HSG Krefeld Niederrhein. The 36-year-old made 19 saves in the 37:29 (19:12) win against HSG Rodgau Nieder-Roden. It was the fourth victory in the fourth game of the season, Mark Schmetz’s team is also leader of the 3rd League South-West ahead of the tram derby at interactive.Handball Düsseldorf-Ratingen on Saturday (6 p.m., Gothaer Straße sports hall).

Among the 712 spectators in the Glockenspitzhalle was Ronny Rogawska, who led the HSG into the 2nd Bundesliga as coach in the 2018/2019 season. The Dane, who now works for the North Rhine league team Borussia Mönchengladbach, was greeted with warm applause by the spectators.

Mark Schmetz had to do without Loic Kaysen, who was the most successful shooter in the game at TSG Haßloch with nine goals, due to illness. But the Krefeld squad is so broad this season that such failures can be compensated for.

The HSG quickly gained a three-goal lead against Rodgau (4:1, 5:2). “We started the game very well. We defended with concentration and aggression and were very well prepared for the opponent. Nevertheless, we made too many mistakes in the tempo game in the first half, we could be more consistent here,” said Lukas Hülser. Nevertheless, the HSG managed to dominate the first half and gain a seven-goal lead by the half-time break (19:12).

In the second round, Schmetz’s team didn’t let anything go wrong, the game was more balanced than in the first round. This was not least thanks to Rodgau’s keeper Marco Rhein. Rodgau was able to get within five goals (26:31), but in the end the Krefeld team won comfortably with 37:29. “Of course it would have been nice if we could have extended our lead a little more. But the opponent can also play handball. We are very happy with the two points and the well-deserved win against Rodgau. Now we’re already looking towards the derby in Ratingen,” said playmaker Hülser after their fourth success this season. It was a convincing performance by HSG Krefeld Niederrhein, which, together with runner-up TuS Ferndorf, is the only team in the 3rd League South-West without losing points.

“It was a really good game from us with an outstanding Sven Bartmann in goal,” said Mark Schmetz after the game. “After taking a seven-goal lead at halftime, we didn’t allow anything in the second half. A thank you to the fans who supported us here. This is extremely important for us.”

Next Saturday we’re going to the derby in Ratingen. At 6 p.m. in the Gothaer Straße sports hall, the HSG will be guests of the newly promoted team Interaktiv.Handball Düsseldorf-Ratingen, which started with 4:4 points and has been victorious in both home games so far. A real endurance test for the HSG.
