Paderborn. The recently published accommodation statistics for the first half of 2024 show a significant increase in overnight stays in Paderborn. This was announced by the Paderborn Tourist Association.
With an increase of 13.3 percent in guest arrivals and an impressive 17 percent in overnight stays compared to the previous year 2023, the city is recording “outstanding figures”.
In total, the approximately 30 accommodation establishments in Paderborn that are required to register welcomed more than 98,000 guests, who together spent 181,000 overnight stays. These figures exceed the pre-Corona level for the first time: In the first half of 2019, Paderborn counted a good 90,000 guests with almost 157,000 overnight stays. During the Corona years 2020 and 2021, the number of overnight stays remained well below the 200,000 mark.
Paderborn as an attractive travel destination
Paderborn’s tourism director Karl Heinz Schäfer expressed his delight: “These figures make me very positive, especially in view of the large increases in the number of beds available in the last two years. They raise the expectation that this year we will surpass the results of 2017 and 2019, the two best years in Paderborn’s accommodation statistics,” said Paderborn’s tourism director Karl Heinz Schäfer happily.
Dieter Honervogt, chairman of the tourist association, emphasises the growing attractiveness of Paderborn: “The statistics underline that Paderborn is increasingly perceived as an attractive travel destination. In addition to classic city trips, conference and business travel tourism, which also appears to have recovered, are also making a significant contribution to the success.”
