A Mercedes from Sofia crashed on AM “Trakia” near Plovdiv in the emergency lane. This was reported by outraged readers of TrafficNews, who witnessed the absurd situation. The driver of the car undertook the dangerous maneuver in one of the busiest sections – the one between Stara Zagora and Plovdiv.
More than once, overtaking in an emergency lane has caused serious accidents, most of them fatal.

For the first violation, the penalty for driving in the emergency lane is BGN 1,000 and 3 months of disqualification for the driver.
