Sosok.ID – The struggle for the border area has resulted in a conflict between the two citizens re-occurring.
Now the residents of Seberang Village, Sebatik Island had a storm with the citizens Malaysia at the state border.
This is because many villagers feel aggrieved, their agricultural land and plantations are suddenly asked unilaterally by Malaysia.
Even though they already have land certificate officially, but now their land is pegged by the government Malaysia as ownership by the neighboring state.
44 residents on Sebatik Island, Nunukan Regency now have to bite their fingers with what they get.
The land that they have been working on for a long time is now suddenly owned by the Malaysian government.
Even to go to the subdistrict head office, the villagers must now become illegal immigrants.
This is because the access road from their home to the sub-district office has suddenly become part of Malaysian territory.
The incident of delimitation of the area was confirmed by the local sub-district head.
Sebatik Utara Sub-District Head, Zulkifli confirmed that as many as 44 Seberang villagers have complained about the loss of their land.
Zulkifli said that the community’s complaint was due to the installation of new stakes in the area of the stakes 1 and 2 Sebatik.
Residents report their land is missing. The community asked for clarity on land ownership that had been certified.
The 44 villagers suffered from loss of land after the Geospatial Information Agency (BIG) together with the Malaysian Measurement and Mapping Position (JUPEM) conducted a re-measurement in June 2019.
“There are about 44 residents who claim to have been disadvantaged because some of their land has entered Malaysia,” said the Head of Seberang Village, North Sebatik District, Hambali, Friday (4/9/2020) as quoted from Kompas.com.
There are at least 2.16 km of land in Seberang Village that has been affected by the re-measurement.
Whereas the 44 residents who complained had land ownership certificates for a long time.

“Most of the residents have certificate ownership, our data is about 44 people, they worked on the land, planted gardens and farmed there for a long time,” he said.
This incident also had a long tail, because now there are Malaysian citizens who are starting to arrive at the certified plantation owned by Indonesian citizens to collect crops from the fields or gardens there.
Even the residents of the border between the two countries had a scene because of the incident.
“We are mediating, because this has not yet been formalized and has not yet been confirmed. I say that (taking and controlling the land) cannot, unless the two countries have agreed. So in the meantime, please work on each as usual until there is clarity,” said Hambali.
The residents of Seberang Village now also have to bear the impact, in addition to making noise with citizens of neighboring countries, they also have to pass through the area Malaysia if you want to go to the Head Office.
“The entrance to the North Sebatik sub-district office is cut off about 30 meters. So if you want to go to the sub-district office we have to pass Malaysia, we are illegal immigrants (dark immigrants) for a while, “said Sebatik Utara Zulkifli Sub-District Head. (*)
