“They really test what we can endure!” one of the readers wrote to us on Thursday and attached a photo of a gift package of one liter of pilsner beer. He is said to have been shocked by the price. And he was not alone, the same packaging is also dealt with on social networks.
We are talking about the Christmas edition of Pilsner Urquell in a retro bottle. In one package you will find a liter glass bottle of light lager.
It is sold at Globus for 229.90 crowns with an 11 percent discount. However, the original price was 259 crowns. PrahaIN.cz went to the chain to see for itself.
“Will anyone really buy a liter of beer for 230 crowns?” asked our reader. A similar question was asked facebook group dedicated to shopping in Poland. “They don’t really know what they want anymore,” said the post, where the same packaging is photographed.
The post received over seven hundred comments in two days.
People often talked about how expensive it was and advised others not to buy the drink. “I would start boycotting stores, buy only the essentials,” urged one of them.

But there were also a lot of those who defended the price, saying that it is a gift package, a limited edition that is not for regular consumption. After all, this was also confirmed by the manufacturer when we asked him.
Our editors checked whether the same gift packaging can be found in other stores and what its price is.
Globus ended up being the cheapest of all.
It costs 250 crowns at Pivní máják, 269 crowns on the Stramis.cz website, 260 crowns on la-vin.cz. Rohlík.cz sells it for 259.90 crowns. There is even talk of a sale here, because the original price is 329.90 crowns.

During our visit to Globus, we also noticed another gift pack in which the beer comes out more expensive than standard. An ordinary paper box contains nine half-liter cans and costs 349.90 crowns. One can thus costs 39 crowns. The product is again on sale, the original price was 459.90. In this case, one piece cost 51 crowns.
The price of a can is usually around 30 crowns.
