Outlook’s New Authenticator Lite: Enhanced Security for Email Access on Mobile Devices

With mobile phones, it is quite convenient to access our email through the corresponding application, and in addition to the Gmail application, surely you also have Outlook installed Microsoft.

And now Microsoft has taken a step forward to enhance security, and it has just been confirmed that the latest update of Outlook for Android and for iOS.

With it comes the functionality called Authenticator Litean additional security layer to access the application and therefore read the email through the mobile.

Once you have the Outlook app updated on your mobile device, you no longer need to download the standalone version of Authenticator for increased multi-factor authentication (MFA) security.

So every time you launch the Outlook app after the last update, you’ll be prompted to register the app as an MFA-protected device.

After that, it will no longer be necessary for you to confirm your identity with a text message or with a phone number, and instead you will receive an automatic notification from the application itself, and you will be asked to write the number sent in said notification.

In addition, this update for Outlook also offers another level of security, in addition to the number indication mentioned above, it can also ask the user for biometric or PIN verification as long as those methods are used on the phone.

The Outlook mobile app will continue to add new features in the coming months, such as the “Message Reminders” feature, which will basically put emails at the top of your inbox so you don’t forget to reply to them.
