Outings – Leisure | Long format: from Champsaur to New York, the incredible story of Vivian Maier, alpine photographer

Until June 26, the exhibition on the photographer is back at the Royal Museums of Turin. An opportunity for La Provence to see what is hidden behind the lens of the lady with the hat

By Tanguy Cohen and Enora Seguillon

Vivian Maier lit up the Musée du Luxembourg last fall. The moving story of this artist revealed after her death in 2009 but also her face captured in a reflection in a mirror. All these portraits taken in the streets of New York or Chicago that tell of the invisible America. Yet Vivian Maier is not just an American street photographer. She is also a traveler, whose family was originally from Saint-Julien-en-Champsaur, a small village in the Hautes-Alpes with which she has maintained very strong ties throughout her life.

Since February, and until June 26, the fabulous exhibition is back at the Royal Museums of Turin. A great opportunity for a trip to Italy, another opportunity for La Provence to see what is hidden behind the lens of the lady with the hat.
