Outgoing cabinet puts a stop to corona support packages | Inland

Ministers Koolmees (Social Affairs), Blok (Economic Affairs) and Hoekstra (Finance) announced this on Monday afternoon, according to insiders. Before the summer, the cabinet already intended to end the general support in the autumn, now that most corona restrictions have been lifted and the economy is booming again. In addition, the cabinet hopes to relax further from September 20 and, among other things, to let go of the 1.5 meter distance.

The knot has now been finally cut: after about a year and a half, the tens of billions of compensation for wage costs, fixed costs and the self-employed will come to an end.

Nightlife, tourism and events

The cabinet is still working on support for specific sectors, which are still affected by the corona crisis. This concerns, for example, nightlife, tourism and events. According to sources, capital support or a form of compensation for fixed costs is being looked at.

In addition, the cabinet is working on a soft landing for the self-employed. They were able to receive assistance through the Tozo during the corona crisis. This will disappear with the end of the support packages, and the cabinet will temporarily change the regular social assistance benefit for the self-employed (Bbz) to replace it.

This gives the self-employed the opportunity to request assistance afterwards, the assets test will lapse and it will be possible to determine the amount of the assistance on a monthly basis. In fact, the Bbz will work in the same way as the Tozo until the end of the year. The government still expects a significant demand for social assistance from the self-employed and hopes to absorb it in this way.

End of support ‘cuts in’

The end of the support packages is still a major blow to many entrepreneurs, various sectors made a cry for help in this newspaper last week. They are now looking for tailor-made solutions. The employers can be told that they assume that the 1.5 meter distance will actually be released on September 20, otherwise they will still demand an extension of the support.
