In 2000, Charlize Theron was not yet an icon of Hollywood cinema. Like all actresses, the young woman runs the castings. For a few years, she takes on the supporting roles of wife or girlfriend. Worse yet, she was nominated in the “Worst Actress” category at the Razzie Awards for her role in “Sweet November”. In short, Charlize Theron has a hard time. So when the latter is invited to the 79th Academy Awards in 2007, the opportunity is too great not to take it. The idea? Make a very noticed appearance on the red carpet in order to arouse real enthusiasm (and catch the eye of the directors present at the evening). To do this, the actress will turn to the American stylist, Vera Wang.

A sulphurous dress …
Popular for her wedding dresses, Vera Wang is one of those designers very often sought after by celebrities. On the red carpets, it is not uncommon to see her creations parade. It is therefore no great surprise that Charlize Theron opted for an outfit from the American house. For the occasion, the New York designer has imagined a piece inspired by the 1930s. At the front, the dress is quite classic. The only extravagance: its orange color. But at the rear, that’s another observation. The piece stands out thanks to its sublime backless revealing the fall of the back of the actress. A daring piece upgraded by a slight train. A clever mix between the right dose of sexyness and refinement. But unfortunately, the opinions of the small Hollywood world were not unanimous.
