outdated and dangerous “you can’t withdraw”

The ATM is retiring and it is a revolution that many do not like at all.

When the ATM made its debut was certainly a great revolution.

But today the ATM is obsolete and dangerous and so comes his disappearance. Let’s see why the ATM goes towards abandonment.

ATM towards closing

First of all the ATMs are too much expensive to manage for banks.

Surveillance, the supply of money and the maintenance of ATMs represent a cost that the banks no longer want to bear. Precisely for this reason many branches are already closing and are preparing to cut more and more. But it is also the government that does not like the ATM. In fact, the ATM today is under special surveillance through the super registry of current accounts. In fact, through the super registry of current accounts, the Revenue Agency can find out anything the Italians do at the ATM. The problem for the government is that cash is not traceable and consequently favors tax evasion.

How it is replaced

As long as the ATM and cash are in place, preventing tax evasion will be very difficult. This is why the government is strongly in favor of closing the ATM. But in addition to this, the executive puts in place increasingly stringent regulations that increasingly limit the use of cash. Just think that from next year for payments of € 1,000 and up if you use cash you will be heavily changed. So the ATM is both a tool that favors tax evasion but it is also a cost for banks. In reality, ATMs are already disappearing. In fact, in small towns it has already become impossible to find them and in big cities they come closed one after the other. The aim is therefore to completely replace ATMs and banknotes with traceable digital payments.

Here are the risks

But this does not appeal to many Italians. First of all, many Italians are not used to these new payment methods. Let’s think, for example, of the many elderly people who clearly have difficulty getting used to the new methods. But there are also many who argue that the new payment methods are an advantage only for banks. In fact, with each transaction the bank pockets the commission. So not everyone likes paying with digital and traceable money and if it is true that it can be a tool to combat tax evasion, it is also true that banks have no costs but have many earnings in commissions.
